20 tons of food for the vulnerable: small gestures, big impact in 11 centers nationwide

More than 1,000 elderly individuals and children in need from 11 multifunctional centres across the Republic of Moldova will receive hot lunches through the campaign organised by the Concordia Public Association.
The initiative turns every donation into a tangible act of care and solidarity. Hundreds of volunteers have gathered in stores nationwide, collecting food items to prepare meals for those in need.
People donating from their hearts
In supermarkets, customers were welcomed by volunteers who encouraged them to donate non-perishable items such as rice, buckwheat, bread, oil, and canned goods.
“I bought honey, corn, peas, pineapple, and buckwheat. It is very important. I often participate in charity events, and I believe that with the little we do, we bring benefits to the community,” said one man.
A woman added, “They have a very noble mission. It is difficult for all of us right now, especially for pensioners. I bought oil, bottled water, and bread.”
Another donor remarked, “I bought items for other children too. It is a charitable gesture, and I am glad that such gestures are made. We take care of other children, not just our own.”
"We need to help those who are more in need. I always participate in these campaigns," commented another customer.
One simple yet meaningful gesture was shared: “I bought a package of groats, peas, and buckwheat. I want someone to enjoy the products they don’t have.”
Volunteers on the front lines of solidarity
Volunteers are dedicated to supporting the elderly and children in need.
"I decided to volunteer because I want to help society. We distribute flyers and provide people with information about the campaign. If they listen, that’s great; if not, we thank them and move on to the next person," said volunteer Nicoleta Braga.
Concordia's Executive Director, Vadim Țărnă, stated that the collected food will be used to prepare hot lunches.
"We gather food products from which we will prepare hot lunches for children and the elderly facing various challenges. Some of the products will be donated directly to socially vulnerable families throughout the Republic of Moldova," he explained.
According to him, the team will begin sorting and distributing the products to multifunctional centers starting Monday.
20 tons – this year’s goal
This year, the organization aims to collect approximately 20 tons of food products. These will reach the 11 multifunctional centers in the country, where over a thousand lunches are prepared daily for people in need.
Over 300 employees and volunteers were present in 52 stores across 20 localities nationwide. The campaign has reached its ninth edition.
Last year, as part of the same initiative, over 12 tons of food products were collected.
