From migration to innovation: the digital success story of Diana Baidu-Lungu

A Moldovan entrepreneur is proving that perseverance and digital adoption can transform a challenging start into a high-performance business. Diana Baidu-Lungu, who left the Republic of Moldova over 15 years ago, has successfully established a network of fully automated laundries in Spain.

Originally from Gradiște, Cimișlia, Baidu-Lungu leveraged her economic background to launch a business centered on modernization. Today, she manages her entire operation remotely, utilizing mobile and tablet interfaces to oversee daily workflows.

Smart technology and client experience

"The facilities operate on a fully automated schedule," explains Diana Baidu-Lungu. Her husband integrated a custom programming system that ensures the premises open and lock automatically at precise intervals, optimizing security and operational costs.

The business model focuses on more than just utility; it prioritizes customer comfort. While waiting for their laundry, clients can enjoy coffee or browse a small curated library within the facility.

Strategic expansion and social impact

Regular clients highlight the modern equipment and clean environment as key differentiators. For many, the professional drying services are essential due to local humidity, offering a fast and cost-effective alternative to home washing.

Beyond her Spanish operations, Baidu-Lungu manages multiple ventures in both Spain and Moldova. She is also an active participant in charitable projects, bridging the gap between her home country and the diaspora.

A legacy of Moldovan integration

"Nothing is truly easy, but one must move forward," says the entrepreneur. Her advice to others is to remain resilient despite initial challenges, emphasizing that consistent effort makes any objective achievable.

Spain remains a primary destination for the Moldovan diaspora, with official data recording over 20,000 citizens in the country. As of 2024, new bilateral regulations allow Moldovan workers in Spain to access state pensions and social benefits, further securing their professional future.
