Global energy security at risk as US retaliates against Iranian oil infrastructure

President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran is "completely defeated" and seeking a peace deal, even as Tehran launched wave-based missile attacks across the Middle East. The White House emphasized that neither the U.S. nor Israel will accept any agreement that favors the Iranian regime.

Simultaneously, Tehran claimed successful strikes on U.S. airbases in the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar. Air raid sirens echoed across Jerusalem as ballistic missiles carrying fragmentation warheads targeted central Israel, hitting a residential building in Shoham and causing a devastating fire.

Impact on global energy hubs

The conflict has shifted heavily toward critical infrastructure. An American oil tanker is currently ablaze near the UAE following an Iranian drone strike. In Fujairah, a vital global fuel hub outside the Strait of Hormuz, all oil loading operations have ceased due to massive fires.

The Pentagon released footage of U.S. aircraft striking Kharg Island, the facility responsible for 90% of Iran’s oil exports. In Baghdad, the U.S. Embassy also reported a fire following a direct attack by Tehran-aligned forces.

Defense and maritime security

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz described the situation as a "decisive struggle" between the regime's survival and surrender. In northern Israel, local leaders reported significant damage to homes and vehicles following combined rocket fire from Iran and Hezbollah.

President Trump announced that U.S. warships are being deployed to the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the flow of oil traffic. He called upon international partners, including France, the UK, China, Japan, and South Korea, to join a coalition to secure the vital waterway.
