How Dorin Recean comments on Wizz Air's decision of suspending flights to and from Moldova
The decision of Wizz Air to suspend flights to and from the Republic of Moldova is not clear and sufficiently well reasoned, as currently the risks to the country's air security are minimal. The statement was made by Prime Minister Dorin Recean during a broadcast on the Romanian TV channel TVR.
"We don't want to interpret somehow, we are trying to have an honest and open dialogue with all the companies, to understand why Wizzair felt not necessarily safe when they took this decision. I strongly believe that we will be able to calm the waters and make economic operators feel at peace and stable and secure to operate further. We will understand what triggered this perception, because there was really no reason for such decisions to be taken."
Wizz Air announced the suspension of all flights to and from Chisinau from 14 March. This decision was motivated by the high, but not imminent, risk to airspace security, according to the airline. Earlier, state institutions said they regretted Wizz Air's decision and that flights in the national airspace could be carried out safely, applying a series of procedures in this regard.
