Top traffic offenses: illegal parking, ignoring signs, blocking crossings

The most common violations of the Road Traffic Regulations (RCR) include irregular parking, failure to obey traffic signs, and obstructing pedestrian crossings. Reports indicate that the drivers who often display the least discipline tend to be behind the wheel of BMW, Mercedes, or Toyota vehicles, according to the civic platform observ.md.
Any citizen can easily document and report a violation of the Road Code Regulation (RCR) observed on the street with just a few clicks. Reports submitted through observ.md go directly to the police, provided the user has an electronic signature.
Illegal parking is the most frequently reported violation on the platform, significantly outpacing others. So far, there have been 700 complaints about illegal parking, making it the top complaint.
The second most common violation is failure to comply with road signs or markings, with 107 reports—seven times fewer than the leading violation.

BMW drivers have the highest number of reports across all categories, totaling 138, followed closely by Mercedes drivers with 132 reports and Toyota drivers with 119.
In the illegal parking category, Mercedes drivers lead the way with 92 reports, followed by Toyota drivers with 88 and BMW drivers with 82. Ford and Renault each have 54 reports of illegal parking as well.
Regarding violations of traffic signs and markings, BMW drivers again take the lead with 24 reports. Toyota follows with 18 reports, Mercedes with 16, Renault with 10, and Audi with 9.
When it comes to blocking pedestrian crossings, Volkswagen drivers dominate with eight reports, followed by Mercedes drivers with seven and Toyota drivers with six.
In the case of running a red light, BMW leads with six reports, while Volkswagen, Mercedes, and Audi each have three reports.

Point 44 of the RCR clearly states: *"*Vehicles are prohibited from entering sidewalks and pedestrian paths. However, vehicles involved in maintenance or repair work may enter with the authorization of the road administrator and the consent of the police."
A sidewalk is designated for pedestrian traffic and is generally located adjacent to the roadway or separated from it by a green area.
Parking is considered legal only in specially designated areas, which must meet the following four conditions:
- Presence of a "P" (parking) sign.
- Clear road markings (white only).
- Parking must be carried out according to the method indicated on any additional panels under the "P" sign.
- A minimum width of 1.5 meters must be left clear for pedestrian traffic.
If any of these conditions are not met, parking the vehicle is deemed irregular.

We remind you that observ.md is an independent civic project, developed and maintained on a voluntary basis. Registration is free, and all reports are kept confidential. To submit reports to the police, users must have an electronic signature.
