“Study in Moldova” reaches Soroca: Students explore admission and career options

Students from the northern part of the country who cannot travel to the capital to explore their options before choosing a faculty attended an educational fair in Soroca. Representatives of all 11 universities in the country presented study programmes that combine theory with practice and prepare them for adult life.

Seventeen thousand first year students. This target guides higher education officials. The “Ion Creangă” Pedagogical University in Chișinău seeks to attract young people to future oriented professions. In addition to history, geography, and exact sciences, graduates can study game design.

“We offer very attractive promotional packages that suit future specialists in various fields. For example, we offer History and Geography, Education Sciences, Special Psychopedagogy, Social Work, and, of course, visual arts such as game design, interior design, and exterior design. These rank among the most in demand fields on the labor market.”

Young people who choose to study Law at the “Ștefan cel Mare” Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will later gain access to a wide range of careers.

“One option is the Law program, which lasts four years. After graduation, you can work as a criminal investigation officer, a forensic officer, or an investigation officer. A law degree also opens a broad range of career paths. We also offer a three year public security programme, which includes border police, public order, and is linked to the National Public Security Inspectorate.”

The “Study in Moldova” campaign includes a range of interactive and informative activities designed to bring higher education institutions closer to prospective students. In Soroca, all 11 universities in the country promoted their faculties.

“The Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy presented a diverse educational offer. We provide integrated study programs in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, as well as bachelor’s programs in optometry, three year nursing programs, and a physiotherapy program.”

Students had the chance to join interactive workshops before making such an important decision about their future.

“The Medical University attracted me the most. It really stood out, because I want to continue my studies there.”

“We come from Drochia district, from the ‘Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu’ Theoretical Lyceum. We are in the 12th grade, and together with our principal, we came to learn about our future universities and where we can apply. What impressed you most today? The opportunities at the universities impressed me most, along with their openness.”

“I attend the public institution Cotiujenii Mari Theoretical Lyceum, and I am glad to be here today. The universities impressed me because they presented themselves well. I still consider where to submit my application, as each offers strong opportunities.”

“Last year, we set a goal for six out of ten graduates and holders of baccalaureate diplomas to choose to study in the Republic of Moldova, that is, at home. This year, we have set an even more ambitious goal of seven out of ten graduates,” says Adriana Cazacu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Research.
