A new floating bridge could be installed on both banks of the Nistru
A new floating bridge could be installed on both banks of the Nistru in the near future. The project was presented by UNDP representatives during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, together with the head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, and the interim resident representative of UNDP, Andrea Cuzyova, in the communes of Cocieri and Molovata Nouă from Dubăsari district.
Its importance is dictated by the need to facilitate the connection between the two banks of the Nistru river, the floating bridge being the only way of unimpeded traffic in the context of the presence on the road of the illegal infrastructure of Tiraspol checkpoints.
The cost of a bridge over the Nistru in the perimeter of the Cocieri plateau could amount to several hundred million euros, therefore a floating bridge would be the most suitable solution, stated Oleg Serebrian.
Almost 10,000 citizens from the communes of Molovata Nouă, Cocieri and Corjova live in the perimeter of the Cocieri plateau.
