Romania’s interim Prime Minister visits Chisinau for PAS Congress

Ilie Bolojan, Romania's interim Prime Minister and president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), will participate in the Congress of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) on June 14, according to Romanian media reports.

Ilie Bolojan is the first Romanian leader to visit Chișinău following the announcement of the opening of the first cluster of negotiations for the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union, according to the National Liberal Party (PNL).

Bolojan's participation in the congress symbolizes "Romania's constant support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the strengthening of relations between the two countries," as stated in a PNL press release.

We remind you that during Ilie Bolojan's official visit to the Republic of Moldova, access to certain public places in Chișinău will be temporarily restricted from June 13 to June 14. The restrictions will affect areas in the city center and the traffic routes connecting to Chișinău International Airport, as ordered by the police to ensure the smooth conduct of official engagements.

Bolojan last visited the Republic of Moldova at the end of May, where he participated in the event titled "Strong Town Halls - Developed Localities" in the Great National Assembly Square. This event focused on reforming local public administration and enhancing administrative capacities.

On May 29, the interim Prime Minister of Romania requested a Spartan military plane to urgently return to Bucharest after a Russian drone crashed into an apartment building in Galați, injuring two residents.

Additionally, it's worth mentioning that Ilie Bolojan visited Chișinău last year, on August 23, 2025, where he met with local officials to discuss major energy infrastructure projects, including the Vulcănești-Chișinău and Bălți-Suceava overhead power lines, as well as issues related to security, transportation, and support for European integration.

During another visit on March 1, 2025, the Romanian official agreed with President Maia Sandu that Romania and the Republic of Moldova should cooperate in countering Russia's hybrid warfare.
