The government has approved the resignation of Roman Cojuhari from his position as Director General of the Public Property Agency (APP), effective July 15. Until a new Director General is appointed, Ion Ciumac, the Deputy Director General, will assume his responsibilities.

The decision was made during Wednesday's Cabinet of Ministers meeting, the first chaired by interim Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu following the resignation of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu on July 3.

Roman Cojuhari announced his resignation as the director general of the Public Property Agency (APP) two weeks ago amid a scandal involving the state-owned enterprise Moldatsa. Investigative journalism revealed alleged salary abuses and disclosed that Dumitru Vangheli, the former director who was later dismissed, had included false information about his professional background in his CV.

In his June 29 social media announcement, Cojuhari took responsibility for failing to implement stricter monitoring of the financial decisions made by Moldatsa's former management. He emphasized that the revelations regarding the CV of the former director and the hefty salary of Anastasia Taburceanu, a spokesperson for Moldatsa and cousin of President Maia Sandu (reportedly up to 120,000 lei per month, according to investigative reports), had damaged the credibility of the APP team.

"I hope our country continues firmly on its European path, strengthens its institutions, and ensures efficient, transparent, and responsible management of public assets and finances. Out of respect for these values and to protect the image of the institution and our team, I have decided to resign from my position as general director of the APP," Cojuhari stated in his resignation message, after approximately three years in the role.

We remind you that in connection with the Moldatsa scandal, Radu Marian, a deputy from the Action and Solidarity Party, resigned as chairman of the parliamentary committee on economy, budget, and finance. He took responsibility for recommending Dumitru Vangheli for the directorship of Moldatsa, a decision rooted in their childhood acquaintance, but claimed he was unaware of the irregularities that had occurred at the enterprise.

Additionally, Anastasia Taburceanu, a cousin of President Maia Sandu, also announced her resignation from Moldatsa and stated that she would return the bonuses and additional payments she had received during her time at the enterprise.
