The Republic of Moldova could host the Summit of the European Political Community next year. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu after the meeting held in Stockholm with the head of Swedish diplomacy Tobias Billström. This event confirms that the Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner of the European Union and would add value to the image of our country - experts say, Radio Moldova reports.

The initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron to create a European Political Community, launched in Prague on October 6 this year, should not be seen as a trap for states not ready to join, but as a new step towards the EU, mentioned the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu.

The presence in Chisinau of the leaders of the 44 member states of the European Political Community - 27 from the EU and another 17 from outside the community space, would be the most important event in terms of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova. The holding of the Summit of the European Political Community in Chisinau represents a credit of trust of the European community for our country, says the expert Ion Tăbârță.

"The Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner, on the occasion of this Summit of the European Political Community, which includes EU states, as well as non-EU states, that the main European leaders would come to Chisinau at the given time, or such an event organized here in the Republic of Moldova, in addition to the added image that our state brings, it will surely be a strong signal for the Republic of Moldova in its European journey", declared Ion Tăbârță.

The idea of ​​organising the high-level meeting of the European Political Community in Chisinau was launched by President Maia Sandu at the founding Summit in Prague on October 6 this year. Hosting the second summit of the European Political Community in the Republic of Moldova, a country from the eastern neighbourhood, a recent candidate for EU membership, would be a sign of support - according to the head of state.
