Food labels will contain more information for consumers
Consumers will have more information about the content of food products. The members of the Agriculture and Food Industry Commission approved the report on the Draft Law on consumer information on food products.
The product labels will necessarily contain information about the presence of allergens, as well as the presence or absence of gluten in the food.
It will also indicate the country of origin or place of provenance of the primary ingredient, which is not the same as the country of origin or the stated place of provenance of the food product. The legislative initiative was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, in the context of the harmonization of national and European legislation.
The draft law is to be examined in the plenary session of the Parliament, in the first reading.
