A draft law on the health and mental well-being of the population was registered in Parliament
In recent years, major global crises and the COVID-19 pandemic have increased people's emotional and psychological vulnerability. For this reason, a draft law on the health and mental well-being of the population was recently registered in the Parliament. The new provisions emphasize the reduction of the risk of mental illnesses and the early detection of behavioral disorders, explained the member of the Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family, the deputy of the Action and Solidarity Party, Liliana Grosu.
"The new draft law aims to develop resilience to disruptive factors and to reduce the risk of mental illness, to develop skills necessary to maintain mental health throughout life, to protect against violence and to create protective work environments, to ensure work-life balance and the private one, the early detection of mental and behavioral disorders and the monitoring of risk factors at the level of the entire population and of various vulnerable population groups, the application of treatment only based on an individualized plan and exclusively for therapeutic purposes", said Liliana Grosu.
According to official data, in the Republic of Moldova, similar to the global situation, there is an increasing trend in the number of people facing mental health problems. Every year, around 5,000 people are diagnosed with severe mental health problems.
