Volodymyr Zelensky visits the front line in Bahmut

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy traveled to the front line of Bakhmut, the scene of the heaviest fighting in the Donetsk region, on Wednesday to visit Ukrainian soldiers who have been defending the city for more than seven months, while the Russians say their artillery controls all avenues of access to Bahmut, which would practically be blocked, informs Agerpres.

The leader from Kiev listened to reports from military commanders on the operational situation and the evolution of the frontline battles and talked with Ukrainian soldiers.

"I have the honor to be here today, in the east of our state, in Donbas, and to reward our heroes, to thank you, to shake your hand. Thank you for defending the state, the sovereignty, the east of Ukraine," the Ukrainian president said.

Those present held a minute of silence in memory of the soldiers who gave their lives defending Ukraine.

On this occasion, the Ukrainian president handed out medals, orders and distinctions to the front-line servicemen of Bahmut. Previously, a pro-Russian official said that Russian artillery controls all access routes to the city of Bahmut, which would be practically blocked, according to EFE.
