MEC presents its education priorities. Anatolie Topala: We want a system that helps build a resilient society
Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topala told a press conference that the main priorities in the field of education, to be implemented by 2030, include increasing the attractiveness and relevance of studies for the labour market, making the educational process more efficient through digitisation, and strengthening human resources in the field.
According to Anatolie Topala, the Government has recently approved the Education Development Strategy 2030, and in the coming weeks amendments to the Education Code will be promoted in the Government. At the same time, a new youth strategy will be approved.
The first objective is to increase the attractiveness and relevance of studies for the labour market. Quality studies mean good teachers, relevant content and modern infrastructure. 13 universities and pedagogical colleges are undergoing a comprehensive transformation and modernisation process. The Ministry has allocated 289 million lei for 20 projects to improve infrastructure and change teaching content in the institutions. Under these projects, 52 laboratories and research centres, 67 classrooms and multi-purpose rooms, 18 teaching and counselling centres will be equipped and modernised.
Another priority is to make the educational process more efficient through digitisation. We plan to develop more information systems that will help school principals, teachers, but also the Ministry and its subordinate agencies. We want to implement the electronic catalogue in most general education institutions. Currently the electronic catalogue is used in about 560 institutions," said the minister.
Another priority of the Ministry of Education is to strengthen human resources in the education system. To this end, the ministry plans to found a national institute of education and leadership that will provide continuous training of teachers at European level, as well as establish an effective mentoring mechanism in the education system.
The fourth priority is to ensure inclusive education for all pre-school children, pupils and students. To this end, Anatolie Topala says, the Republican Centre for Psycho-pedagogical Assistance will be reorganised to ensure the quality and efficiency of psycho-pedagogical assistance. The institutions will also be equipped with the necessary equipment for training children with special educational needs.
The fifth priority is to increase social cohesion and resilience in the spirit of the values of an open society, stimulating young people to participate actively in social, cultural and economic life.
"We want the education system to contribute directly to economic growth through the training of highly qualified specialists, an education system that helps to form a society that is resilient to the challenges of the modern world and, last but not least, an education system that promotes European values," the Minister added.
