Victor Parlicov: Termination of the contract with the Cuciurgan Power Plant would mean higher electricity tariffs and crises in the Transnistrian region

The interconnection of the energy networks of the Republic of Moldova with those of Romania is one of the actions taken by the Moldovan authorities in order to ensure the energy security of our country - declared the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov in the show "La 360 de grade" from our radio station.

"On the one hand, yes, someone could say, look, we are subsidizing, paying the costs of separatism. He would be factually right, but we must understand that this did not happen yesterday or today, this has been going on for decades. Why are we doing this now? Because others must answer for the past. Why are we doing this now? Because, first of all, the consequences of not purchasing the energy and, let's say, renouncing this contract, would mean not only higher prices here, on the right bank, for electricity consumers from us, but it would also mean that we, on the right bank, should absorb the consequences of those crises that will break out on the left bank".

Minister Victor Parlicov also mentioned that the electricity delivered by the Moldovan Power Plant from Cuciurgan on the right bank of the Nistru is one of the sources of covering the budget deficit.
