The validity period of the environmental permit for waste management and the permit for emission of pollutants into the atmosphere from stationary sources, issued for "Moldovan Metallurgical Plant", has been extended until 30 September 2023. A decision to this effect was taken by the members of the Commission for Exceptional Situations (CSE) on Monday 3 April.
At the same time, according to the CSE decision, made public on 4 April, the company is obliged to report the amount of pollutant emissions by the end of the current month, according to the national legislation of the Republic of Moldova.
The Rabnita metallurgical plant is one of the main contributors to the budget of the region on the left bank of the Dniester. According to a report by the purported ministry of economic development in Tiraspol, by the end of 2021, the plant's sales were more than $400 million - half of the Transnistrian region's total exports.
