Maia Sandu discussed the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova with the Head of the EU Delegation
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had a meeting today with the head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Ambassador Jānis Mažeiksk. The officials discussed the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova.
President Maia Sandu appreciated the consistent support given by the EU in the efforts of the authorities to transform the Republic of Moldova. The head of state mentioned that the Chisinau authorities continue to rely on the support of European partners in the development of the economy, the justice reform and the strengthening of state institutions.
Maia Sandu appreciated the financial assistance granted by the EU to the Republic of Moldova for overcoming the crises. The Republic of Moldova obtained the status of a candidate country for EU accession in June 2022, assuming commitments to reform justice, to eliminate corruption, to ensure media freedom and the functioning of democratic institutions.
Recently, the European Commission allocated the second installment in the amount of 50 million euros from the macro-financial assistance granted to the Republic of Moldova. The money is earmarked for reforms and urgent needs.
