Family Doctor// Why sun protection is important and how to choose the right cream
In spring our skin becomes increasingly exposed to solar radiation, which can lead to premature ageing of the complexion, burns and other skin conditions. Find out why it is important to apply sunscreen and how to select the right product in the Family Doctor column.
SPF is short for Sun Protection Factor, a substance found in creams, sprays or other forms of packaging. Cosmetologist Ionela Ionașcu tells us how these creams should be applied and in what quantity to be effective.
"Throughout the year it is necessary to apply creams with a protective factor. The amount of cream to be applied to a particular area is measured with your index finger. We draw a strip of cream on the surface of the finger, this is the right amount for an area, face, neck, décolleté", said Ionela Ionașcu.
When it comes to choosing the right sunscreen formula, there are no rules. Opting for a particular formula depends on your preferences and the texture you prefer. There are both sunscreen creams and sunscreen sprays or lotions that are effective and suitable for all skin types.
