Dorin Recean: "The main issue we need to focus on now is the financial situation of farmers"
Discussions continued at the Government with representatives of grain producing companies, exporters and farmers' associations in the country. During the meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean spoke about the actions taken by the Government and the economic measures needed to financially support farmers, open new temporary transport routes and identify more export destinations.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea spoke about the import monitoring mechanism and presented statistical data showing that there has been no influx of cereals into Moldova in recent days.
"The main issue we need to focus on now is the financial situation of farmers. That is why we are unblocking the existing situation at AIPA as soon as possible, by replacing 75% of the employees who assess farmers' files, to cover part of the companies' expenses through subsidies, the use of VAT and excise duty. We are also examining the opening of a grain storage terminal in Ungheni," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
At the end of the discussion, it was agreed to maintain the permanent dialogue between the Government and farmers by organising new meetings to evaluate the results of import monitoring and to identify solutions to the problems faced by producers.
