Survey conducted ahead of Vilnius Summit: 70% of respondents would vote for their country to remain a member of NATO

Ahead of next week's NATO summit in Vilnius, a poll commissioned by the North Atlantic Alliance found support for NATO membership, collective defence and defence spending. Overall, support for NATO remains strong, as does support for continuing to provide assistance to Ukraine.

According to the published data, the vast majority of respondents consider NATO important for their nation's future security (73%), and 70% would vote for their country to remain a member of NATO in a referendum. Support for maintaining or increasing defence spending is 73%.

The same source also shows that a majority of respondents agree that their country should defend another NATO Ally if attacked (64%) and 62% agree that NATO membership makes foreign attacks less likely.

Just over half of survey respondents view China unfavourably (54%), while two-thirds view Russia unfavourably (66%).

About two-thirds of allied respondents believe that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has affected their country's safety and security (64%).
