The programme is aimed at applicants carrying out entrepreneurial activities in tourism or tourism-related activities with the potential to organise tourism activities in villages, communes and towns with a population of up to 30,000 inhabitants. Priority will be given to applicants who are involved in the rural tourism value chain.

The programme has three components: information and promotion, non-reimbursable financial support and monitoring and evaluation.

The non-reimbursable financial support can cover a maximum of 70% of the value of the investment project and cannot exceed 500,000 lei per beneficiary. The budget of the programme is approximately 30 million lei for a period of 3 years, with the possibility to be complemented with funds from local and foreign donors.

It is estimated that at least 50 small and medium-sized enterprises will benefit from this programme, which will create 50 new jobs and maintain at least 100 existing jobs, as well as investments in the national economy worth about 40 million lei, and at least 25 enterprises will diversify their range of services and products.

"Through the support provided under this programme, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development of these enterprises will be encouraged, which will have a positive impact on the national economy," said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitisation Dumitru Alaiba.

It should be noted that the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitisation has signed a grant contract with the European Union for funding ODA support programmes, worth a total of 8 million euros, for a period of 3 years. Of the total budget, about €500,000 is earmarked for the Support Programme for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Rural Tourism.
