US Embassy in Chisinau requests "a full and transparent investigation" into the murder of Oleg Horjan
The Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova requests "a complete and transparent investigation" in the case of the murder of the opponent from the Transnistrian region Oleg Horjan. Embassy representatives also expressed condolences to Horjan's family, noting that "they were separated from him for too long during his unjust detention by the de facto authorities of Transnistria."
We remind you that the opponent from the Transnistrian region, the leader of the Party of Communists from Tiraspol, Oleg Horjan, was found dead on July 17 in his house near Tiraspol. Six months ago, he was released from a prison on the left side of the Nistru, and last week he signed, on behalf of the Union of Opposition Forces from the Transnistrian region, a declaration of cooperation with the "Civic Congress" from the Republic of Moldova.
Tiraspol and Chisinau simultaneously launched an investigation to elucidate the murder, but the first information provided did not match even in terms of the way the crime was committed.
According to the media from Tiraspol, the de facto leader of the Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselski, would have assured the European Union ambassador to Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, in a discussion, that he would personally check the progress of the investigation and, if necessary, address the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova for assistance.
