Dmitri Rogozin, injured in eastern Ukraine during birthday party
Former head of Roscosmos, Dmitri Rogozin, ex-Kremlin representative for the Transnistrian region, who now heads the "Tsar's Wolves" military advisory group and head of the occupation government of the Donetsk region, Vitaliy Hotenko, was injured as a result of the Ukrainian shelling of the city of Donetsk, Russian press agencies announce.
Rogozin's assistant told TASS and RIA Novosti news agencies that Rogozin was injured when the hotel on the outskirts of the city where he was staying was bombed.
“Wounded in the back. I will live", commented Dmitri Rogozin about his injury. According to the TASS agency, as a result of the bombings, the head of the occupation government of the Donetsk region, Vitaliy Khhotsenko, appointed by Moscow, was also injured. This was reported by Vitaly Hotenko's press secretary.
Several Telegram channels write that during the attack, Rogozin was celebrating his birthday (Rogozin turned 59 yesterday). In the video images published, you can see tables arranged with cutlery and bottles of alcohol. At least one person died as a result of the attack, which most likely targeted Hotenko.
Radio Moldova recalls that in the Republic of Moldova, Dmitri Rogozin, appointed in 2011 as the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Transnistrian region, is known for many scandalous statements related to the future of the separatist region. Dmitri Rogozin was directly involved in the Transnistrian conflict. He claims that he fought with a gun in his hand in the war in Transnistria, in 1992, against the Moldovans and what he calls the "Romanian fascists''. After the Transnistrian conflict, Dmitri Rogozin became involved in Russian politics. In 1997, he became a member of the State Duma, also then he submitted a legislative initiative regarding the accession of Transnistria to the Russian Federation. In 2016, he was declared persona non grata on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, and the plane he was flying to Chisinau in had to return to Moscow after he was denied access to Romania's airspace. He held several positions in the Russian Federation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Director of Roscosmos.
