Moldova, Ukraine to work together to improve connectivity
Moldova and Ukraine have agreed to accelerate the construction of the Cosăuți-Iampil bridge, which will connect the two countries over the Dniester River.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Moldovan and Ukrainian officials on the sidelines of the Crimea Platform Summit in Kyiv, Ukraine.
"In the wake of our meetings with Ukrainian officials, we agreed to accelerate the construction of bridges between our two countries," said Daniel Vodă, spokesperson for the Moldovan government. "First and foremost, this is about the Cosăuți-Iampil bridge. Both the Moldovan and Ukrainian governments have completed the necessary internal procedures to build a new bridge that will help our transporters benefit from more connectivity."
Vodă also said that the Moldovan delegation in Kyiv agreed with Ukraine to work together to identify more efficient mechanisms for facilitating the transit of grain to international markets, including through the development of railway infrastructure. In the energy sector, the discussions focused on intensifying bilateral interconnectivity projects.
