Drone attack on the city of Lviv in western Ukraine
The city of Lviv in western Ukraine was rocked by explosions in the early hours of Tuesday, with local officials saying that air defense systems were engaged in repelling a Russian air attack, reports Hotnews.ro.
Both the city's mayor, Andrii Sadovii, and the region's governor, Maxim Kozitski, urged people to stay in shelters as more attacks were expected. Several waves of drones were heard starting at 01:30 GMT, AFP reports. "Air defenses are operating in our region" and other drones "are flying in our direction," the mayor of Sadovii wrote on Telegram. "Explosions are heard. Following an attack on the city of Lviv, a fire broke out in an industrial warehouse," he added later, on Telegram. The Shahed (drones) threat remains present in the Lviv region. Air defense is working, the Ukrainian Air Force explained on the same channel. The western half of Ukraine has been under an air raid alert since around 00:00 GMT, Reuters reports.
