Moldova's Energy Minister: Country well-prepared for winter
Moldova will enter the winter with adequate natural gas reserves for the first time, according to Energy Minister Victor Parlicov. Parlicov said that the government is also negotiating to purchase natural gas at more favourable prices.
"We have never been better prepared for the winter," Parlicov said. "We have enough gas reserves to meet our needs until the end of January. We continue to make reserves, as we believe that market prices are still favourable. We are working to resolve the constraints on gas deliveries from Southern Europe, where capacity is limited. We want to increase this capacity, as gas prices are more affordable there, and we do not want to miss the opportunity to benefit from even better prices."
Parlicov previously announced that the state's coal reserves have been fully replenished, and that the procedure for the purchase and replenishment of fuel oil stocks is currently underway. However, fuel oil will no longer be used as a base fuel.
In the summer, Energocom purchased 300 million cubic metres of natural gas at an average price of $400 per thousand cubic metres.
