Moldova, France to intensify defence cooperation
Moldova and France have agreed to intensify their cooperation in the areas of defence and regional security. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean and French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu.
The two officials also discussed the possibility of increasing the number of interoperability projects between the two countries, which would help to accelerate the transformation of Moldova's National Army and modernise its defence sector.
"Moldova and France have common interests in ensuring stability in our region," Recean said. "Together with France, we are determined to modernise the National Army to meet the challenges of security."
The officials also discussed a letter of intent for bilateral cooperation that will be signed today by Moldovan Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi and his French counterpart.
According to the Moldovan government, the document will strengthen bilateral dialogue between the two countries in support of defence reform and the development of dialogue with the French defense industry.
