Romanian citizens will be able to travel to the United States of America visa-free, starting on December 1, 2025. The announcement was made at Digi24 by the Ambassador of Romania to the United States of America, Dan-Andrei Muraru.
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the United States without a visa for up to 90 days.
In order to be able to escape the US visa requirement, countries are required to have a visa refusal rate of less than 3%. However, a nation's final inclusion in the visa waiver program, even after meeting all criteria, remains at Washington's discretion.
