The situation in the Security Zone, discussed at a new meeting of the Joint Control Commission
Current topics regarding the situation in the Security Zone were addressed during today's meeting, September 28, of the Joint Control Commission, held in Bender.
The Joint Military Command reported on the movement of military observers to the village of Chițcani, between September 25-26, where fragments of an alleged missile were identified in a private household. Later, the fragments were evacuated under the control of the sappers, the Commission informs in a statement.
In the context in which the respective fragments were detected in the uncontrolled territory, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova requested the investigation of the cases with the involvement of specialists from the constitutional authorities. Another topic discussed at the meeting, states the JCC, was the case of September 21, when the right to free movement was restricted for a journalist at one of the unauthorized posts of the Transnistrian force structures.
Also, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova requested the representatives of Tiraspol to present information regarding the circumstances of the September 7 incident in Râbnița, "when following some so-called "training" of the Transnistrian force structures with the use of combat ammunition, the walls and windows of some residential blocks were damaged".
"Through a statement of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova, the intention of the Transnistrian force structures to patrol the railways, including in the perimeter of the Security Zone, with the involvement of personnel armed with pistols, was revealed. The attention of the Joint Control Commission was drawn to the fact that such unilateral actions contradict the documents of the peacekeeping operation on the Nistru River and destabilize the situation in the Security Zone", reads the press release.
