The Republic of Moldova has taken important steps in order to start negotiations for accession to the European Union, fulfilling the recommendations of Brussels, the former chief negotiator of Romania for accession to the European community, Vasile Pușcaș, told Radio Moldova.

In his opinion, there are delays in the implementation of reforms in justice field. However, Vasile Pușcaș is confident that the opinion of the European Commission will also be a positive one for the Republic of Moldova.

"The Republic of Moldova has taken important steps towards obtaining these accession criteria in internal development, regarding the institutional, organizational and political side, regarding the principles of the market economy and not least regarding the arrangements for the capacity to and be beneficial in the accession process. It is a personal opinion that I express from the last days I spent in Chisinau, it is that it will be a positive evaluation", said Vasile Pușcaș.

Romania's chief negotiator for accession to the EU bloc, Vasile Pușcaș, said that, during his two days in Chisinau, he discussed in detail the negotiation process with the presidents and secretaries of the 35 thematic working groups, which form the basis of the National Coordination Mechanism of the European integration process.

We remind you that, yesterday, the European Parliament adopted with a large majority of votes a Resolution by which it recommends starting the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union by the end of this year. They demand, among other things, the permanent liberalization of trade with the EU bloc and the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the single European market, before the accession negotiations are completed.
