The meeting, held at military headquarters in Tel Aviv, began with a moment of silence in memory of the 1,400 Israelis killed in the Hamas-led massacre since October 7.

The army is now awaiting a political decision to move forward with a major, multi-pronged offensive against the Gaza Strip, according to military sources.

Israel has demanded the evacuation of the only hospital in southern Gaza, located in the town of Rafah, an order refused by the hospital's administration. The ultimatum for the evacuation of civilians from the north of the strip has also expired.
