Elections

Promo-LEX: Over 60 incidents were reported and processed. In two settlements the turnout is low

Violation of vote secrecy, organized transportation of voters, acts of violence, but also the unjustified presence of unauthorized persons in polling stations were among the incidents reported by observers, Promo-LEX program director Nicolae Panfil told in a press conference. At the same time, he informed that in two settlements, only eight voters had voted by 2:40 p.m.

Thus, among the incidents reported by observers are:

„In most cases there are cars around polling stations. Probably, due to the weather, it is obvious to note that people do not simply stay outside, but supervise the work of electoral offices. We consider this a violation”, explained Nicolae Panfil.

At the same time, in two localities where repeat elections are held, a low turnout is registered. By 2:40 p.m. only eight residents had voted.

„We draw your attention to the fact that besides the second round of elections, on November 19, in eight settlements, the repeated voting is taking place, and in accordance with Article 175 of the Electoral Code, elections will be considered invalid in certain districts if they have been attended by less than 1/4 of the number of persons registered in the electoral lists. In this respect, at least two settlements observe a minimum voter participation, this is Salcia Commune from Taraclia District, where the mayor and the local council will be elected, and the Village of Cotovscoe where the local council will be elected. We emphasize that at 2:40 p.m. eight voters came to the polls in each settlement, according to the data presented on the Central Electoral Commission page. According to Article 177 of the Electoral Code, repeated voting is considered valid regardless of the number of voters who participated in voting”, mentioned Nicolae Panfil.

Today is the second round of voting for mayor election in 273 settlements in the country. According to the Central Electoral Commission data, around 840 thousand citizens are expected at the polls. The polling stations will be open until 9:00 p.m.
