The meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Syria could take place in January

The head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, following a telephone conversation with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, announced that, in the second half of January, the meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Syria could take place, reports Rador.

"We proposed to organise a meeting in the second half of January. This could take place in Moscow or in a third country," Çavuşoğlu said.

Earlier, it was announced that Ankara, following talks held in Moscow between the defence ministers of Russia, Syria and Turkey, agreed to withdraw Turkish troops from the territories under their control in the north of the Arab Republic.

The talks between the heads of the Turkish and Syrian Defense Ministries, Hulusi Akar and Ali Mahmoud Abbas, which took place in Moscow, constituted the first meeting of the ministers of the two states in the last 11 years. According to the Syrian Ministry of Defense, the meeting between the Turkish and Syrian defence ministers was a positive one.
