€40 million injection to revitalise Moldova's forestry
The Republic of Moldova has secured a substantial €40 million loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) to strengthen its forestry sector, according to an official statement released by the Parliament.
The loan aims to modernise and reform the country's forestry practices, aligning them with European Union (EU) standards and international agreements.
The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration approved a consultative opinion in favour of initiating negotiations for the loan. In addition to the loan, the AFD will also provide a €1.2 million grant to support technical aspects of the forestry sector development.
"The financial resources are intended to implement reforms in the forestry sector and modernise it, in accordance with all regulations and acquis of the European Union, as well as the commitments of the Republic of Moldova from international agreements," the Parliament's statement noted.
The Credit Facility Agreement between Moldova and the AFD was signed on October 17, within the framework of the Moldova Support Platform.
