Moldova Boosts Education with Model Schools Network Project
Moldova is investing in the future of its education system by launching the "Model Schools Network" project, which will upgrade over 200 schools across the country.
Major improvements planned:
- Capital repairs: Bringing buildings up to modern standards.
- European-standard equipment: Enhancing classrooms and learning environments.
- Sports field renovations: Encouraging physical activity and well-being.
- Courtyard landscaping: Creating attractive and functional spaces.
- Energy efficiency upgrades: Reducing costs and environmental impact.
- Digital technology implementation: Preparing students for the modern world.
Education Minister Dan Perciun expects these improvements to "lead to better student performance".
World Bank support:
The project is receiving financial support from the World Bank, highlighting its commitment to education in Moldova. Carolina Odobescu, Senior Coordinator at the World Bank, reiterated their continued support for such initiatives.
Local schools excited:
Cristina Prisăcaru-Ilieș, director of the Petru Rares Theoretical High School in Soroca, expressed their enthusiasm for being chosen. Students at her school hope for a renovated sports hall or even a new one, along with canteen improvements.
Project details:
- Three new high schools will be built.
- Fifteen existing high schools and kindergartens will be renovated.
- Two hundred schools will receive new IT equipment.
Overall, the Model Schools Network project aims to create a network of modern, well-equipped educational institutions that will provide Moldovan students with a better learning experience and prepare them for the future.
