Israel Halts Iran Strike: Biden's Diplomacy Prevails
Israel has decided to forego a retaliatory strike against Iran, originally planned for Sunday morning, following direct intervention from American President Joe Biden, who successfully persuaded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to refrain from such action.
This decision came in the wake of Tehran's deployment of approximately 300 attack drones and missiles towards Israel.
Multiple members of Israel's war cabinet had advocated for launching a retaliatory strike against Iran. However, the absence of substantial damage inflicted by Iran, coupled with Netanyahu's consultation with Biden, ultimately led to the cancellation of the planned attack.
According to sources, Biden conveyed to Netanyahu that Israel's defence against the onslaught of Iranian drones and missiles constituted a significant strategic victory, thereby rendering Israeli reprisals unnecessary.
In response to Iran's aggression, senior Iranian commanders cautioned Israel against retaliation, warning of escalated consequences. They also cautioned Washington against endorsing any Israeli military actions, threatening to target American bases in the event of such support.
Global condemnation followed Iran's assault on Israel, with NATO urging restraint and closely monitoring the situation to prevent further escalation in the volatile Middle East region.
Meanwhile, Israeli Cabinet Minister of War Benny Gantz vowed that Iran would face consequences for its attacks, with the timing and method of retaliation being deliberated judiciously.
