The Republic of Moldova has the most IT employees per capita in Europe, after Estonia
The Republic of Moldova is in second place in terms of IT employees per capita in Europe for the third consecutive year, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba, announced on social media.
The official said that 4.5% of the total number of people employed in 2023, i.e. more than 26 thousand specialists, got a job in the IT sector. He said that our country has surpassed Poland, Ukraine and Romania, according to a study published by Emerging Europe.
Thus, according to the study, after Estonia and the Republic of Moldova in the top 3 are Latvia and Slovakia, which have a share of employment in the IT field of 4.12%. They are followed by countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Serbia. Dumitru Alaiba announced that the Moldova Digital Summit will be held on June 6-7, where the steps to be taken to develop a sustainable and globally integrated digital economy will be discussed.
According to the minister, more than 50 speakers, 150 companies and more than 2500 visitors are expected at the event.
