Declaration and memorandum of understanding signed between the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine

Today, in Chisinau, the foreign ministers of the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine signed a joint statement and a memorandum of understanding on combating information manipulation and foreign interference. These documents represent a firm commitment of the three states to share similar visions and concerns in the face of the current security environment, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau, Mihai Popșoi.

The joint declaration underlines the states' determination to build a common, democratic, peaceful and prosperous European future.

"The document focuses on particularly current topics-on the development and consolidation of relations between the 3 countries both in the political and economic fields, energy, infrastructure, combating disinformation", said Mihai Popșoi.

The document also highlights the importance of solidarity and mutual support in the face of current and future challenges. It is also focused on developing political, economic, energy and infrastructure relations between the three countries, as well as strengthening joint efforts to combat disinformation.

Today's trilateral "solidarity and connectivity" meeting once again demonstrates Ukraine's firm support for its independence and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression, emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Bucharest, Luminița Odobescu.

"It is an expression of Romania's commitment to support the integration process of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. In particular, I would like to congratulate the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine for the official opening of EU negotiations. It is an important step that the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine become part of the European project, the only option that can ensure citizens the security, peace and prosperity they want and deserve"

The diplomat also referred to the opening of EU accession negotiations with the two states, noting that a complex period of reforms is ahead, which will require political commitment and perseverance, as well as support from EU member states "Romania supported the European aspirations of the two states and provided political and practical support in all the defining moments of the last years of the European journey".

The European Union is the only way to safety, declared, for his part, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba. The accession process is irreversible, and the ultimate goal is for three good neighbors — Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine — to offer a better life to their citizens. Or, he says, Russia uses not only weapons, but also non-military arsenals in the conflict with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

"The EU accession negotiations have already started, which would not have been possible without the EU's support. It is too early to say that the work is done. Russia is still trying to destabilize our European dream. You must keep your European course. Everyone sees that our countries have started accession talks, but the goal is clear, realistic, that three good neighbors have everything necessary for their people. I thank the three countries for their decisions to provide equipment for Ukraine's energy sector."

In a message of gratitude, the official from Kiev appreciated the continuous support of the Moldovan and Romanian peoples for Ukraine in these difficult moments.

"Victory for Ukraine will ensure that all three nations will have a free future in the European Union." The first edition took place in Odessa and focused on energy security issues in the midst of the crisis generated by Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. The second edition of the trilateral took place last year in Bucharest and focused on regional security issues, with the participation of the defense ministers from the three states.
