Macron accepted the Prime Minister's resignation. Attal will lead an interim government, until the political situation in France is unblocked
French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and his government team, after the electoral defeat of the party in the Parliament, writes Le Monde.
Macron said the current cabinet would remain in office, with limited powers, for "a few weeks", probably until the end of the Olympic Games to be hosted by Paris.
The leftist New Popular Front alliance, which won early parliamentary elections but lacks an absolute majority, failed to find a candidate for prime minister.
