Irina Vlah's Candidacy: Focusing on Moldova's People and Challenges
Irina Vlah, the former governor of Gagauzia, has announced her candidacy for the presidency of the Republic of Moldova.
According to her, her electoral platform will strictly focus on addressing the specific issues faced by the people and providing solutions for them.
"I am always with the people and alongside them. I am very familiar with the problems they face and their expectations," she stated during a press conference.
Irina Vlah began her political career in the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), serving as its representative in Parliament from 2005 to 2014. Later, she withdrew from the party, accusing it of collaborating with pro-European alliances. A year thereafter, she definitely left PCRM.
One year later, Irina Vlah participated in the elections in the Gagauz autonomy for the position of governor of the region, which she won with the support of the Socialist Party. She led Gagauzia until 2023, securing a second mandate as well.
Several political figures have already announced their intention to run in the upcoming presidential elections. They include:
- Maia Sandu, the current president of the Republic of Moldova;
- Vlad Filat, former prime minister and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova;
- Ion Chicu, former prime minister and leader of the Party of Consolidation and Development of Moldova;
- Tudor Ulianovschi, former foreign minister;
- Andrei Năstase, former interior minister and founder of the DA Platform;
- Renato Usatîi, former mayor of Bălți and leader of Our Party;
- Alexandr Stoianoglo, former general prosecutor.
