Child Falls From Apartment Window: Safety Tips for Parents
A three-year-old boy fell from the third floor of his apartment building on Saturday, July 20th, around 11:00 am. According to police spokesperson Natalia Stati, the incident occurred in Chisinau's Buiucani sector.
Investigators determined that the boy climbed onto an open window sill, slipped, and fell. He and his mother were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
In the wake of this incident, the police urge parents to exercise constant supervision of their children, particularly those residing in apartments. Even momentary lapses in attention can be dangerous. All windows should be kept closed, and parents are advised to discuss window safety with their children from a young age. Caution should also be used with insect screens, as children may mistakenly rely on them for support and fall.
To prevent unsupervised access to windows, the police recommend avoiding furniture placement near window sills and installing child-proof windows and handle locks.
