Putin appoints a new ambassador to the Republic of Moldova

Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov was released from his position based on a decree issued by the leader of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin. The new ambassador is Oleg Ozerov, appointed by another decree.

Both decisions were signed by Putin on September 10.

Oleg Vasnetsov was ambassador to the Republic of Moldova from July 2, 2018, and before that he was ambassador to Congo for almost five years (from September 30, 2003 to August 27, 2008).

Oleg Ozerov was ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2010 to 2017, and since September 2011 he was also a resident representative to the Organization for Islamic Cooperation. On May 18, 2020, he was appointed ambassador with special missions and headed the secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
