Ukrainian President to CIA Director William Burns: Offensive by Russian forces in Ukraine may intensify
The offensive of Russian forces in Ukraine could intensify in the coming months. CIA director William Burns, who was on a secret visit to Kyiv, said the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The security experts from Chisinau are of the same opinion. According to them, this is because, for now, Russia has not achieved its goal of occupying Ukraine.
Although brutal fighting continued during the winter, especially in the region of Bahmut, neither of the two camps registered strategic victories. Thus, at the Economic Forum in Davos, the head of the US National Intelligence Directorate, Avril Haines, described the conflict in Ukraine "not as a stalemate, but as a war of attrition at this stage." But both camps are expected to prepare offensives in the spring, and Kiev continues to press the US and its Western allies for more military support. If the weather cools down, the offensive of the army of the Russian Federation will intensify, it is possible to use armored cars on the tracks - security expert Vitalie Marinuța told our radio station. "This intensification will depend on the state of the weather outside. If it is getting colder and the ground is freezing, then we will see a greater intensification, because both Ukraine and the Russian Federation will be able to use armored vehicles on tracks more effectively", said Vitalie Marinuța. A Ukrainian source cited by CNN pointed out that Kiev has become concerned about the slow pace of arms deliveries to Ukraine from the West, stating that tank deliveries remain suspended, as Germany says it will not send Leopard armored personnel carriers to Ukraine if the U.S. doesn't send the famous Abrams M1 armored cars. The Pentagon has repeatedly said it has no plans to send heavy tanks to Ukraine because of the high logistical costs of maintaining them, according to Digi24. Ukraine's military backers are meeting in Germany today, from which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he expects "solid decisions" such as sending heavy armored vehicles to help his country in crucial upcoming battles against Russia. Today's meeting is the third, since the beginning of the conflict, in this format called "Rammstein". Defense ministers and senior military officials from 50 countries are meeting under the coordination of US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, Anatolie Nosatâi, also participates in the meeting.
