Writer Tatiana Tîbuleac receives the Polish reader's award at the Angelus Gala

Tatiana Tîbuleac was awarded, on October 19, with the Polish reader's prize, at the Angelus Gala, hosted by Poland. The writer was among the seven finalists of the Angelus 2024 Central European Literary Award. Out of 120 books qualified for the award, the jury led by the writer Martin Pollack selected " The Glass Garden" in the final, translated by Kazimierz Jurczak.

"The Angelus Literary Prize is one of the most important prizes in this region which is awarded every year to writers from Central Europe for prose translated into Polish", says Tatiana Țîbuleac.

The writer Tatiana Tîbuleac has two books published in Polish: "The Summer in which my Mother had Green Eyes" and "The Glass Garden". The second volume "The Glass Garden" attracted the attention of the organizers of the Polish Literary and Cultural Festival, as it is the novel of an entire authentic generation.

"Thank you to the translator of my book, Kazimierz Jurczak, who made my book "The Glass Garden" visible in Poland as well, being nominated for this prestigious literary award. Thus, the novel entered the European circuit of the best works of 2024".

"For readers, my message is the following: to read with joy, with pleasure, out of interest, good books, hard books. Reading is the shortest way to other worlds", said the author of "The Glass Garden".

The prize is awarded annually to writers from Central Europe, who approach contemporary life in their works, prompt reflection, deepen the relationship between writer and reader.

We remind you that the seven finalists of this year's edition of the ANGELUS Award were: Tatiana Tîbuleac (Republic of Moldova/Romania), Oleg Serebrian (Republic of Moldova), Małgorzata Lebda (Poland), Tomasz Różycki (Poland), Andrei Kurkov (Ukraine), Monika Helfer (Austria), Benedek Totth (Hungary).

The Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025 is organized by the Ministry of Culture of Romania and the Romanian Cultural Institute, through its representative office in Warsaw, the "Adam Mickiewicz" Institute, in partnership with the Polish Institute in Bucharest.

Tatiana Tîbuleac lives in Paris. The novel "The Glass Garden" was published in 2018, and in 2019 - awarded the European Union Prize for Literature.
