32 years without Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici – the voices of love for the nation

Today, October 30, it turns 32 years since the tragic road accident in which the artists Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici, symbols of the national movement in the Republic of Moldova, lost their lives. The two musicians, known for the patriotic songs that inspired the fight for the Romanian language and the ideal of union, died on the night of October 29 to 30, 1992, following an accident on DN2, near the town of Coșereni in Romania, while they were returning in Chisinau.

Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici are known for their patriotic songs, such as "Suveranitate" and "Pentru ea", dedicated to national ideals and the Romanian language. Through their music, they contributed to the movement for the independence of the Republic of Moldova and the transition to the Latin alphabet. They became strong voices of union with Romania.

In their memory, commemorative monuments were erected both at the accident site in Coșereni and in the capital of the Republic of Moldova. In Chisinau, the "Two Twin Hearts" festival is dedicated to them annually, keeping the memory of their contribution to culture and national identity alive. In the years that followed, their son, Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici continued to sing and to promote his parents' music. In 2021, he named his daughter Doina, in honor of his mother.
