Romanian historian: Russia will never accept the idea of the Republic of Moldova being led by a pro-European government and president
The Republic of Moldova must maintain the stability of democratic institutions and develop plans to counter Russia's attempts to undermine the state power in Chisinau, historian Cosmin Popa said for Radio Moldova.
According to the expert, Russia will never come to terms with the idea that the Republic of Moldova will be led by a pro-European government and president and is also preparing a political overthrow in the Republic of Moldova, and this fact has become very evident in recent weeks. "Behind this illusion that the problem of transition in the 5+2 format can be solved is nothing but a service done to Russia to return to the international community through the back door. The great danger is currently linked to Gagauzia, because the Gagauzians consider their administrative autonomy within Moldova as a first phase for deception. Here, Moldovan politics must be strengthened in such a way that this thesis is taken from the hands of the pro-Russian leaders in Gagauzia, to prove to the Gagauz people that they have a common future with all of us that does not necessarily have to go through the Kremlin", said Cosmin Popa .
