Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production
Film producers from the Republic of Moldova will be able to more easily attract foreign investments for cinema projects. Parliament ratified the Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production. The Minister of Culture, Sergiu Prodan, referred to the importance of this convention.
"The revised Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production contains provisions on the promotion and development of cinematographic co-production at European level. The alignment of the legal framework for the participation of the film producer in cinematographic co-productions, the encouragement of cooperation in the field of cinematographic production, the increase of diversity in the field of cinematography, is done with the aim of achieving greater unity through cooperation, culture, between the participating states. By ratifying this Convention, national film producers will have more possibility to join European co-productions and will have access to European funding", said Sergiu Prodan.
The Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production was adopted in 1992. It was subsequently revised in 2017, as new technologies changed the process of production, distribution and financing of cinematographic works, and signed on January 16, 2023.
