The head of diplomacy in Bucharest, Bogdan Aurescu, warned that the Russian threat affects the security of the eastern flank, saying that a unified vision is needed at the allied level to ensure an adequate deterrent and defence posture.

He called for continued support for Ukraine in the context of the war unleashed by Russia, but also for strengthening the strategic resilience of neighbouring states, including Moldova and Georgia, to ensure peace and security in the Black Sea region.

A meeting of NATO foreign ministers will take place in Brussels on 4 and 5 April.
