The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu will give a briefing on the situation of Chisinau International Airport. The event will start at 09:00 and our radio station will broadcast it live.
We mention that as of March 28, the Chisinau International Airport is no longer managed by the "Avia Invest" company, but has passed into the management of the state, and the process of taking over the assets has started, the general director of the Public Property Agency Alexandru Musteata told Radio Moldova.
At the same time, Avia Invest Company qualifies this action as a raider attack and says that it challenged the termination of the contract in court.
The airport became the property of Avia Invest in 2013, when it was controlled by Ilan Şor. The concession contract, established for a period of 49 years, required the company to make investments of over 240 million euros.
As it did not honor its contractual obligations, in 2020, the Public Properties Agency announced the termination of the concession act. Avia Invest continued to manage Chisinau International Airport and appealed the decision to the Court of Appeal. In November last year, the court decided that the Chisinau International Airport should return to the ownership of the state.
