Nicu Popescu will convey to the NATO summit that the Republic of Moldova wants to speed up cooperation with the member states of the Alliance
The Republic of Moldova wants to boost cooperation with NATO member states, the North Atlantic organization NATO and together with the Republic of Moldova-EU-NATO trilateral format. This is the message that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration, Nicu Popescu, will convey at a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, which is being held on the sidelines of the NATO Summit. At the same time, the head of Moldovan diplomacy will emphasize the fact that, at present, our country is not threatened militarily, but must face a spectrum of hybrid, energetic, economic threats.
"I will also talk about how the Republic of Moldova manages these problems. These threats hit very hard in the economy of the Republic of Moldova, in our ability to maintain economic development. I will refer to the concrete ways of cooperation together with the member states of NATO, together with NATO and in the trilateral format Moldova-EU-NATO and through this cooperation to maintain the Republic of Moldova in this area of peace, to maintain the security of the Republic of Moldova". The official reiterated that the Republic of Moldova has a constitutional framework that provides for the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova.
"It is very important to understand that this constitutional provision means that the Republic of Moldova must strengthen its security and defense capabilities. The Republic of Moldova, unfortunately, does not have military allies and because of this it is very important the partnerships with those countries that support the Republic of Moldova". We remind you that the NATO summit is being held in the capital of Lithuania, in which Finland is also participating for the first time, one of the 31 countries that joined in April, current year.
